Orchis purpurea x simia

This photograph shows one of the hybrids that has long legs and almost purple tips to the arms and legs.  The legs are however much shorter than those of O simia. The hood is much more colourful than that of O. simia and much paler than that of O. purpurea. It looks as though there is a face wearing sun glasses under a huge bonnet.

 Each flower in the flower spike has a different labellum pattern.
